    Schematic Design

SSID begins the schematic design process by applying formal design ideas as solutions to your programming needs. Working with your input, we formulate an overall design direction’s look and feel that best suits you. To do this we use a process specific to SSID that we have established based on years of experience. We actively utilize your input with our aim as working towards a design vision that is exclusive to you, and where the solution for each room is determined as it applies to your particular design direction.

We communicate this mutual vision in schematic drawings, via plans and elevations, showing you room layouts and the design of important architectural elements. We also present the furnishings and materials for each room through a well selected combination of manufacturer’s cut sheets, material swatches and showroom samples, as well detailed drawings for any custom pieces. We will propose several different solutions for your careful review and approval, and depending on the scope of your project, it may be advisable to bring specialized consultants onboard for their planning advice at this stage. Also, a spreadsheet of pricing is generated as a tool for you to review all possibilities, and enable you to easily track your budget as purchase decisions are made.

The preliminary schematic design process covers everything from the floor to reflected ceiling, and electrical plans, wall elevations, and cabinetry and furniture, to fabrics and materials and any required flooring. We are experts at organizing and orchestrating this process, and with your sign-off, then proceed to the next phase, design development.
