While the interior is soft and has a delicate appeal through careful finishes, coloration, and the custom-designed vanity table, a man’s needs are also addressed. This can be seen within the scale of the large custom-designed armoire and bedside tables, the particular variety of wood finishes and natural fabrics, along with the tones of green bedding. This room was personalized with many custom furnishings, suiting the specific needs of the couple. For example, when opened the armoire provides storage for clothing as well as hides intrusive electronics when not in use. A casual timelessness is achieved through the use of differing cherry, ebony, and acacia woods, adding greater interest and depth for a sophisticated result. The custom furniture not only functions beautifully, but the blackened iron of the armoire’s base as well as the custom curtain rod complement and underscore the graphic architectural lines of the custom steel frame windows. With honey-toned Italian plaster walls juxtaposed with dark coffee stained oak floor and simple planes of natural materials and fabrics such as linen and cotton, the over all feel is warm and comfortable.
